Another buried-treasure of pure 70's hard rock. A genuine article of the era that gave us such legends as Deep Purple, Blue Oyster Cult, and Led Zeppelin, Warpig's debut LP was an early masterwork of psychedelic proto-metal. Named after a Black Sabbath song, Warpig were one of many bands that combined the fuzzy psych of the late 1960s with Sabbath's predilections for heaviness and brown-acid lyricism. Don't call this metal (that stuff wasn't even invented yet), but call it what it is: damn good. Every cut here is a keeper--particularly Rock Star whose organ-driven riff recalls Deep Purple's classic Highway Star.
