Le Stelle Di Mario Schifano - Dedicato (CD)

Italian painter Mario Schifano decided to emulate Andy Warhol's 1966 Velvet Underground project with this 32 minute Italian album from late 1967. Something of a privately financed vanity project only 800 copies were initially pressed, however given its relatively early date it as surprisingly good piece of atmospheric, ethereal, experimental psychedelia / acid rock. The opening track is like the very early like Pink Floyd or the Shadows on acid, a 17 minute experimental studio jam. Side two had five more concise ethereal songs in Italian not unlike the United States of America. Good psychedelic mood music with nothing jarring, inane or clichéd.
